Citrix Workspace Mojave

MacOS 10.14 (Mojave) MacOS 10.15 (Catalina). Is current with OS updates and the Citrix Workspace client is the latest available, and you still do not have a. Oct 15, 2018 go to Citrix website and download 12.9.1. Also download the auto updater. Open Citrix installer and choose the 'Remove Citrix Receiver' option to remove all elements of previous version. Once completed, choose 'Install Citrix Receiver' to re-install. It will open as 'Citrix Workspace' Once completed, open the AutoUpdater download and install. I have tried both Citrix Receiver and Workspace and get the same result. If I configure to use the browser extension then it works within the browser (and therefore has the associated limitations). I have managed to find a workaround which is to launch Citrix Workspace directly (i.e. Take the browser out of the loop) and launch the session. Citrix doesn't have a receiver that supports Mac Mojave or 10.14. If you are using Mac and Citrix receiver, then suggestion is, do not upgrade the OS, until Citrix releases a new version that supports Mojave.

Citrix Workspace For Mac Mojave Not Working

oEnsure Proper Connection between Your Device and the Router.

For Wi-Fi Connections

If you are having connection quality issues, ensure there is proper communication between your device and the wireless router. If your computer is too far away from the wireless router, it is possible the computer is not receiving a proper connection. This can cause issues such as high latency that will cause Citrix to run slow and/or freeze.

Common causes of WiFi interference are (inside and outside of your house):

oDistance from your device to the wireless router.

oObstructions, such as a walls or pillars, between your device and the router.

oExcessive Internet usage during peak times. This can be in your house or your neighborhood. Such as when there is bad weather and more of your neighbors are at home.

oServices using the internet running at the same time you are using the network. These could be services such as YouTube, Spotify, Netflix, XBox gaming online, or other content or services which uses the internet heavily.

oService provider issues

oAn issue with your home network.

oElectrical interference e.g., cordless phone, microwave oven.

oYour wireless network is using the same communications channel as your neighbor’s.

Citrix Workspace For Mac Mojave

One of those things that tells you just how seriously Big Business IT, as a whole, takes the Mac. This is not as much a request for advice as a bellyache and thread to share experiences and updates.
For security reasons, my employer does not want us doing work locally on personal machines. So if I'm not using my work-issued laptop I must connect with work applications via Citrix application hosting. I typically spend several hours a day connected to our hosted applications, so how well they work is a big deal.
Citrix has been replacing its old Receiver client, across all platforms, with a new client called Workspace. Among many other changes, Workspace has a brand-new rendering engine. It uses Metal on Mojave, ostensibly to speed up performance. But since before the public release of Mojave there have been near-universal complaints about Workspace's performance on Mojave, confirmed by my personal experience. Hosted apps are often very slow and the client seems to have trouble transmitting some events to the server. This persisted through client versions 1808 and 1809. There is now a pre-release build of 1811 on the (mostly deserted) Citrix Mac support forum, with a claim that it solves the issues. But, at least in my usage, it is only a little bit better.
The solution is to revert to the previous product, Receiver 12.9.1. It occasionally acts odd around the edges, but performance is about as good as you could hope for applications hosted on a resource-starved VM across the internet. But Receiver is 32-bit only, so won't work with macOS 10.15, and also is not guaranteed to work with future versions of the Citrix application hosting platform.
Only Mac users get to live with/work around disabling performance problems in critical enterprise applications for months at a time, without any evident urgency by the vendor to fix them. Sigh.
